M-Power Frequently Asked Questions for Current Customers
- What is the service fee to turn on an SRP M-Power® account for a current SRP customer?
The $28 plus tax fee applies to customers who wish to transfer their electric service from one location to another. Those customers switching rate plans, but not moving, are not subject to the fee. - Is there a deposit?
Yes, there is an $87.50 refundable equipment deposit and a non-refundable $11.50 plus tax charge for refurbishing the in-home display. - Do I need to make a purchase to get started?
SRP places a $30 credit on your meter or provides you with a $30 card to start with. This balance due will be repaid as you make purchases. Forty percent of each purchase is applied to the pay-down balance. - What is a pay-down balance?
We extend $30 credit to get you started. This amount, along with the equipment deposit, if applicable, is paid down each time you make a purchase. Customers may also transfer a back balance.* The current pay-down rate is 40 percent of each purchase. - Can I avoid disconnection if I am unable to pay my electric bill?
Yes, if you get a bill reminding you of a past due balance, you may avoid disconnection by contacting us and enrolling in M-Power. Customers can transfer up to $1,000 in back balances from their credit account. The current pay-down rate is 40 percent of each purchase. - If I'm not home for the M-Power install, how will I get my display unit?
The field person will always try to deliver the UDT on the scheduled date of the order. If you are not at home, instructions will be provided so you can arrange delivery with our courier service. - Can an M-Power account also have the medical discount?
Customers that are qualified by SRP and are currently on the medical discount\ rider are not eligible for the M-Power program. - What happens if I run out of credit?
- If you run out of credit, your meter will disconnect and you will need to make a purchase to restore power.
- If you run out of credit during the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., your meter will enter the Friendly Credit mode and run into negative credit. You must buy power prior to 6 a.m. the next day. The negative credit amount will be deducted from your purchase.
- What is the cost per kilowatt-hour for M-Power?
The summer rate is $.0984, summer peak is $.1030, and winter rate is $.0872. - Can an M-Power account also have an Economy Price Plan (EPP) discount?
A customer meeting income guidelines may qualify for the EPP. - Can an M-Power customer purchase power over the phone with a check or credit card*?
Yes. After the payment has been made, the customer will want to contact SRP to verify it has been received. Once SRP has verified the payment the customer can go to a PayCenter and insert $1 to receive the eChex or credit card payment. - If I have credit left at turn off, can I get a refund?
Yes. A fee of $25 plus tax may be charged to refund the credit on the meter at turn off time. - What happens if I lose my card?
The charge for the third card issued to an M-Power customer is $6 plus tax. - What is the charge to replace a damaged or lost UDT?
The replacement charge is $127 plus tax.
*Maximum back balance is $1,000 that can be carried over from a credit account.
